Saturday marks a historic day in the life of Norfolk State University. Our mighty Spartan football team will take on the ODU Monarchs at Foreman Field at S.B. Holiday Celebration to be Held Nov. 30

Come to the faculty, staff and student Holiday Celebration on Wed., Nov. 30 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center. The celebration will include remarks by President Tony Atwater, a Christmas tree lighting, music and refreshments.



Norfolk State to Meet ODU in 1st Round of NCAA Division I Football Championship

Norfolk State University will visit cross-town foe Old Dominion in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship next Saturday, Nov. 26, as announced Sunday by the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. at ODU’s Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com. Police Department Receives Grant

Police Department Receives Grant

The state Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) presented the Norfolk State University Police Department (NSUPD) with a $5,000 check on Wed., Nov. 16. The NSUPD will use the funds to curb underage drinking and high-risk behavior both on and off campus through crime prevention safety talks, information and referrals, a greater police presence and enhanced training and awareness programs for student and faculty/staff organizations.

The Honors College Discipline Specific Programs and the Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work are sponsoring “A Day of Social Science Research” featuring Temple University professor Dr. Larry Icard, director of the Center of Intervention and Practice Research. NSU Men Win 4th Straight MEAC Cross Country Title

The Norfolk State men’s cross country team won its fourth consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship and 11th in the last 12 years on Sat., Oct. 29, on the campus of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Spartan women placed fifth. The Spartan men were paced by senior Josef Tessema, who won his first title. NSU Football Teams Wins 2011 MEAC Championship!

The Norfolk State football team won its first-ever MEAC football championship with a 47-14 victory over Morgan State on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore, Md. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 9-2 overall record and 7-1 ledger in conference play, both of which are school records for the program’s Division I era.

Russian Delegation To Visit Campus

Norfolk State University is hosting a delegation from our sister city of Kaliningrad, Russia, Thurs., Nov. 17 beginning at 10:30 am. Kaliningrad is located in western Russia on the Baltic Sea. We extend our warmest welcome to our visitors!
