DeLoatch Named a Famous Former by Girl Scouts

Interim Provost Sandra J. DeLoatch is being recognized by the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast as a Girl Scout Famous Former. The designation honors outstanding women leaders that are former Girl Scouts. DeLoatch will also be profiled in the Council’s 100th anniversary calendar.

Earlier this year, the Girl Scout Council presented DeLoatch with the Thanks Badge, the highest award an adult Girl Scout can earn from the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast. Additionally, the Girl Scout Council created the Dr. Sandra DeLoatch Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) patch. The STEM patch program gets girls in grades K through 12 active in fun, hands-on STEM activities with the guidance of faculty and student mentors. DeLoatch has been instrumental in expanding the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast’s STEM programs for girls by creating a partnership between the Girl Scouts and Norfolk State University and has held several successful programs for girls on campus.
