Record Year: $20M in Awards

Norfolk State University received $20.246 million in awards during fiscal year 2010-11—the highest level received in the history of the University, according to Joseph C. Hall, vice president for research and economic development. NSU Names Terricita Sass Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management

Norfolk State University has named Terricita Sass assistant vice president for enrollment management effective immediately. Prior to her new appointment, she served as the interim executive director for enrollment management. Sass will be responsible for providing leadership to the offices of admissions, financial aid, registrar, new student orientation and customer care. Norfolk State University has named Lakeisha Mayes, a Hampton Roads native, as its new director of Recruitment and Admissions effective November 7. She brings more than 10 years of admissions experience creating innovative strategies to attract diverse student populations. Norfolk State to Meet ODU in 1st Round of NCAA Division I Football Championship

Norfolk State University will visit cross-town foe Old Dominion in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship next Saturday, Nov. 26, as announced Sunday by the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee. Police Department Receives Grant

The state Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) presented the Norfolk State University Police Department (NSUPD) with a $5,000 check on Wed., Nov. 16. The NSUPD will use the funds to curb underage drinking and high-risk behavior both on and off campus through crime prevention safety talks, information and referrals, a greater police presence and enhanced training and awareness programs for student and faculty/staff organizations.

NSU Football Teams Wins 2011 MEAC Championship!

The Norfolk State football team won its first-ever MEAC football championship with a 47-14 victory over Morgan State on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore, Md. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 9-2 overall record and 7-1 ledger in conference play, both of which are school records for the program’s Division I era.
